Autumn Reading Tour in the Ancient Korean Traditional Houses – Cheong-un Literature Library



A library is the most common place for us to experience service that shares knowledge and place. We can gain knowledge by sharing books, and study rooms in libraries are also places that share learning spaces. We have experienced the library, a shared service that is close to our daily lives.



Cheongun Literature Library is a public library built of hanok, a traditional architecture that goes well with Inwangsan Mountain. As you walk up the hill from Yun Dong-Ju Literature Museum, you can see the signboard of “Cheongun Literature Library”. There is a seminar room on the first floor which can be used freely as hanok and there are study room and multi-purpose room at basement.



This is a basement study room where you can read books freely. Cheongun Literature Library collects and preserves cultural assets and history books of Jongno, Seoul, which are rich of academic values and information and at the same time providing academic information for general users and researchers.



There are various literatures such as poetries and novels in the library. You can read the recommended book every month by the library while enjoying the scene outside the window. With natural sunlight, users can read books comfortably.



There is a multi-purpose room inside the library. This is a free space where you can read books, bring your own laptop and work on your own stuff or study. Citizens from different age levels were concentrating on their own work in the space.



Library study room provides various reading places for citizens through the operation of literature lectures with writers, lectures on humanities, poetry creative classes and exhibitions. For children who visit the library, there is a place prepared for them to sit on the heater and read books.



Hanok on the first floor is a place where various programs are carried out. Humanities concert is held in harmony with nature and is used as a space for communication between writers and citizens. Cultural experience and arts education programs such as “One Night-Two Days Hanok Reading Campaign” are conducted specially for children.



This is a writing space for writers. It is a free space where you can write and read books. Various kinds of books are shared in the study room and citizens can use the spaces in the creation room freely.



It was good to read books in a quiet atmosphere like Cheongun Literature Library. It was good to have various books, hanok on the first floor and a multi-purpose room at the basement so that you can choose your own preference place to focus on your work.
